Onion and Apple Open-Face Sandwich

Onion Apple Tart


2 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 medium onion
1 apple (pink lady, granny smith)
2 slices rosemary sourdough bread
2 Tbsp Lemon Aioli
4 slices havarti cheese


  1. In medium skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Slice onion and apple into 1/8″ slices, then chop into smaller squares.
  2. Add onions to skillet and sauté (stirring occasionally) until soft about 3 minutes. Add in the apple and continue to sauté until onions are caramelized and apple is soft. about 6 minutes.
  3. Using a broiler and a baking sheet, toast bread slices to slightly crispy on either side. Remove from oven and spread 1 tbsp of lemon aioli on each slice.
  4. Top each slice of bread with a large spoonful of apple-onion mixture, and 2 slices of Havarti. Return pan to broiler, and watch until cheese on top is melted, about 30 seconds. Enjoy!
