14oz package organic firm tofu, drained
1 cup flour
3 eggs, whisked
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
2/3 cup cooking oil
- Blot drained tofu with paper towel and slice into 1″ cubes, set aside.
- Spread flour onto a plate, whisk eggs in a bowl, and combine breadcrumbs and seasonings on a separate plate. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place 1/3 of the tofu onto the flour plate and roll around to coat. Next use a slotted spoon to dip floured tofu into eggs (coating thoroughly.) Let excess egg drip off. Place egged tofu onto breadcrumb plate and roll around to coat. Repeat with rest of tofu.
- When oil is hot, drop in first 1/3 of tofu nuggets. Flip nuggets every minute or so, so that all sides are crispy golden brown. Using a slotted spoon or spatula, remove to paper towel covered plate to drain. Repeat with rest of nuggets. Serve with mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.
